Michele Kaludis Owens - Director of Consulting Services
Michele joined RMI in 1999 to help RMI grow its client base and manage RMI’s price and credit risk management consulting work. Prior to joining RMI and after receiving her MBA from Vanderbilt University, she worked at CSXT Transportation and rose to the level of National Accounts Manager. In that capacity, she provided logistical efficiencies for accounts such as Amoco, Morton International and Safety Kleen Corporation. Through her extensive work with utilities and municipalities, Michele has gained an expertise in price and credit risk management infrastructure development and implementation.
- Worked on over 25 projects with regulated utilities and municipalities in risk assessment and risk management infrastructure development/review
- Versed in assessing the relation of a utility’s current risk management program to energy industry best practices and in customizing Policy and Procedures and Hedge Plan documents to best fit an organization's needs
- Participated in risk assessment and the development of risk measurement and mitigation strategies for organizations such as Northern California Power Agency, Orlando Utilities Commission, City of Tallahassee, Burbank Water and Power, Piedmont Natural Gas, Madison Gas and Electric and City Public Service of San Antonio
- Developed an expertise in the area of credit risk management through counterparty model scoring, policy setting and on-going exposure monitoring
- By initiating key relationships with major associations, has helped to establish RMI as a well-known national presenter on risk management issues in the utility industry
- Created user-friendly educational workshop resources and illustrative hedge program materials for internal senior management and external Commissions or City Council presentations
- Provided managerial and marketing expertise to improve market reach and logistic efficiencies for clients such as Amoco, Morton International, and Safety Kleen Corporation while at CSXT Transportation
- Vital part of the CSXT Pilot Development Team responsible for integrating sales, marketing, and technology support
